BH4Guardian Multivitamin+PLUS
                                  “…help protect and support BH4”

BH4Guardian
is a thoughtfully selected blend of nutrient and antioxidant supplements that together help protect and support BH4, also known as tetrahydrobiopterin.

BH4 is a vital molecule naturally produced by the body, essential for synthesizing serotonin and dopamine. It also plays a crucial role in the production of nitric oxide, contributing to the regulation of blood pressure and blood flow. Insufficient levels of BH4 can potentially lead to various health concerns, including neurological disorders and cardiovascular issues.

Supplement Information

1.     Astaxanthin: Astaxanthin is a potent antioxidant commonly found in microalgae and marine organisms like krill and salmon. Its strength as an antioxidant lies in its ability to effectively neutralize free radicals and combat oxidative stress. The capacity to quench harmful Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) may contribute to mitochondrial health, while also aiding in the preservation and functionality of both BH4 and glutathione.

2.     Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): CoQ10 supports BH4 and glutathione through its crucial role in mitochondrial function, where it aids in the production of ATP, essential for the regeneration and maintenance of BH4. Additionally, CoQ10's antioxidant properties protect cells from oxidative stress, indirectly maintaining the stability of both BH4 and glutathione by reducing oxidative damage and contributing to the overall antioxidant network.

3.     d-gamma-tocopherol (Vitamin E): Gamma-tocopherol, a potent form of Vitamin E, is exceptionally effective at scavenging peroxynitrite, a free radical with detrimental effects on BH4. This form of Vitamin E is highly effective in reducing oxidative stress and mitigating the negative impacts of peroxynitrite oxidation on BH4.

4.     Lemon Balm: Lemon balm's polyphenols and flavonoids provide antioxidant properties that can help indirectly support BH4 and glutathione by combating oxidative stress. The herb's stress-reducing qualities may assist in managing stress-induced depletion of glutathione, and its anti-inflammatory effects could further contribute to reducing chronic inflammation harmful to BH4 and glutathione. Adequate and quality sleep supports the optimal functioning of neurotransmitters, including dopamine.

5.     Melatonin: Melatonin can function as an antioxidant, and an adequate amount of quality sleep supports optimal functioning of neurotransmitters like dopamine. MIT researchers determined in a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism that a dose of approximately 0.3 milligrams (300 mcg) of melatonin is effective in restoring sleep in adults over the age of 50, rather than the higher typical health food store dosage of 3 or more milligrams.

6.     MgGlyNAC (‘magnesium glycinate’ + NAC): MgGlyNAC simply refers to the simultaneous intake of both 'magnesium glycinate' and N-acetylcysteine (NAC). The NAC provides cysteine, and 'Magnesium Glycinate' provides glycine to synergistically boost glutathione levels, providing robust free radical defense that helps prevent the oxidation of BH4.

‘Magnesium Glycinate' additionally is a source of a highly soluble and absorbable form of magnesium. Magnesium is essential for supporting enzymes engaged in the synthesis and regeneration of BH4. When incorporating glycine, it's beneficial to pair it with magnesium to reduce the risk of glycine activating NMDA receptors in the brain, potentially causing stress.

7.     Multivitamin-Mineral: A high-quality multivitamin-mineral, designed for easy digestion, can provide a comprehensive array of essential nutrients, minerals, and vitamins crucial for supporting and protecting BH4. This includes key components such as L-methylfolate (active folate) and Vitamin B6, along with many others contributing to BH4 synthesis and regeneration. Such a multivitamin-mineral also plays a role in overall cellular health and antioxidant enzyme activity.

8.     R-Alpha-Lipoic Acid: R-Alpha-Lipoic Acid serves as a versatile antioxidant, addressing free radicals, recycling glutathione for enhanced protection, and improving mitochondrial function. Its potential benefits extend to conditions like neuropathy, metabolic issues, and cognitive decline. By directly boosting glutathione levels, R-Alpha-Lipoic Acid also indirectly supports BH4 availability.

9.     Taurine: Taurine can play a protective role for BH4 through various mechanisms, such as mitigating high glutamate levels in certain tissues, thereby reducing potentially harmful oxidative stress. Additionally, taurine may contribute to increased BH4 production by potentially supporting the activity of enzymes like SIRT1 and SOD2 involved in BH4 synthesis.

10. Vitamin C: Vitamin C is a vital nutrient involved in immune function, collagen synthesis, and the neutralization of free radicals that can be harmful to BH4. It plays a crucial role in wound healing, gum health, and antioxidant defense. Calcium Ascorbate is a stomach-friendly form of Vitamin C, making it easier on digestion while maintaining its benefits.

11. Zinc: Zinc is a vital mineral that plays a key role in over 300 enzymes in the body and is crucial for BH4 synthesis. Adequate zinc levels are essential for healthy nerve function, blood pressure regulation, and a strong immune system. Additionally, zinc serves as an antioxidant, providing further protection to BH4 and cells from damage.
